About Us
The Munro Centre is a community-based long day care centre based at UQ St. Lucia, and is unique in many ways. As one of Brisbane’s first day care centres, it has acted as a role model for community centres throughout the area. From 1981, the Munro Centre has established a reputation of quality care for children up to kindy age.
We are a very multicultural service, with many of our families from a cultural and linguistically diverse back ground. This diversity enriches our centre as we acknowledge the need to respect diversity, in all of its forms, and that individuals learn from each other’s life experiences. We believe that children are successful, competent and capable learners, and this is reflected in the programs that we run.
At Munro, we embrace, and strongly advocate for acknowledgement of, and commitment to, the development of each child’s individual learning style by providing a stimulating and caring environment where children can feel safe and have fun learning. This environment encourages an exploration, and nurturing, of the development of already acquired knowledge and life skills.
We are a non-profit centre where a Parent Management Committee in partnership with our educators, is involved in all areas of the Centre’s management. The success of this special partnership is reflected in the high level of care, trust and consideration in The Munro Centre Community.
